Rail Against Racism/Martin McNeill

Upstairs we have an all day gig 'Rail Against Racism'
"We figured it was about time we threw a big noisy gig in the name of racial harmony and free-thinking. This pub has always quietly anti-fascist; on this Sunday it's going to be ear-splittingly so. Anybody is welcome to play, recite a poem, read out an article, name and shame, anything at all. Admission free. We're proud that the pub's following is the crowd that gives a shit; several people have asked about such an event in the last few months, now is the time. We'll have 2 rooms on the go for 9 hours."
Starts at 2pm, finishes at 11pm!
Acts confirmed so far are J.D Smith, The Wavetones, Juke, Tim Sully and Penguin Party

"Crafty powerpop and alternative rock song-stories for grown-ups. No songs about dancing, drugs or teenage angst here... You'll probably recognise people you know in the lyrics. Reassuringly accessible but with an edge like bitter chocolate.
Like Ian Dury fronting the Byrds. Like XTC covering Chas'n'Dave. Like Martin Newell joining Madness. Like Kirsty MacColl if she was a bloke from Essex. Like skimming across a pond on a sunny day in an old fashioned rowing boat, dangling your fingers in the water and unexpectedly having one of them bitten off by something just below the surface."
Starts about 7.30pm, free admission

After that Steve Hastings shall be spinning vinyl behind the pulpit 'til 1am
